His first POW camp was XX1B before moving to BAB21. On 21st January 1945 the prisoners at BAB21  Blechammer were paraded and evacuated the camp ahead of the rapidly advancing Russian troops,  due to heavy snow the men had to return and successfully began the march the next day. On the 22nd, Sam Stalker along with a few others hid in camp deciding to take their chances with the Russians.  They left the camp heading east,  eventually reaching Odessa and back into allied hands on the 10th March 1945.  He arrived back to the UK on 30th March 1945                                                                        ------------------- Picture courtesy The Sentinel Saturday August 2015.
