                                                              Christopher Wilson [Pop] Pop's Regiment left Roundway camp 0612hrs on the 1st January 1940 for Devizes, then on to Southampton where they boarded SS Duke of York.  They arrived Cherbourg 0830hrs the next day. Pop's unit was dropped off at Cap Gris Nez setting up the searchlights and ack ack guns. The next months were spent on routine duties, pop was allowed 10 days leave back home on the 4th May 1940,  he arrived back in France after his leave and several days later his unit was overun by the Germans and Pop was captured on the 25th May 1940.  The rest of the Regiment made it back to Dunkirk and left on two ships  'Maid of Orleans' and  'Canterbury' for the trip back to England.
