Christopher 'tug' Wilson--Page 4

After a long march, the final journey into captivity was by train. The Red Cross Attestation Sheet shows he was admitted to Stalag XX1B on  11.06.1940, where he was documented and given his POW number 3366. On the 15.09.1940 he was admitted to Kgf. Bau u.Arbeits Battalion 21.  The Battalion moved to BAB21 Blechhammer early 1942,  the prisoners  building the camp alongside the Adolph Hitler Kanal.

The Attestation states that according to a list dated 20.11.1944 he was admitted to Stalag 344 coming from BAB21.  this movement order may never have been carried out as he started the Long March from BAB21 on the 21st January 1945.  Other men from BAB21 have the same transfer detail,  they also started the long march from BAB21.

The above photograph was taken at Stalag XX1B  a copy was given to each prisoner who was then allowed to post it back home, letting the family know they were in captivity.  Christopher is sitting front row left.  Note the background, it can be seen on the many photographs of men who sat on that bench for their photos.
