Christopher 'tug' Wilson Page 8
Below, are the two Red Cross parcel sheets which Christopher used to write down the place names of the march from BAB21. The march began on the 21st January 1945, due to heavy snow the men returned to camp and set off the next day.
The prisoners wrote with pencils, the writing has faded over the years especially on the back of photographs. Many of the photos have lots of names written on the back but are so faded they are no longer readable.
Above are the march route details I compiled. My sources of reference for the place name changes are German Czech historical place names, and original German military maps which show both the Polish/Czech and German place names side by side. Below is an example.

The above march routes will be added to Dave Lovell and Ian Bowley's compilation of routes from Stalag V111B/344 and its subordinate camps, put together for the POW75 event in march which is to be held at RAF Cosford. The routes will then be available on the internet to research.
Below is the telegram Christopher sent after he arrived safely back to England.
